Here's an excerpt from 'Spectator sport': (a group of college students volunteering in a lunatic hospice)
On the first day, the director had stood up in the bus on the way down and warned us not to take the 'commitment' lightly. You miss a week, she said, swaying with the movement of the bus, and one of them might 'snap'. I liked the director. She was the main reason I had volunteered to befriend insane people in the first place. She had shorn most of her hair away, except for a tuft up front, which she dyed a different color each week. She wore a sleeveless T-shirt and a tie-dyed dress and genuine Marine combat boots. Moreover, she wore earrings in the many fleshy parts of her body.
I sensed that the inmates were confused by the director. She reminded them of something. I did not know what. This Mexican insane guy named Pablo became attracted to the director and began to follow her around in his pajamas.
'Te quiero,'he often said. 'Te quiero.'
The director made it known that she wanted me to get between her and Pablo. For two weeks, that was my function. Anytime Pablo and she were in the same room, she required my services as a moving wall.
Most weeks Zeke and I played pool the whole two hours. There was nothing else for me to do. I had lost interest in the mingling. Zeke beat me at nine ball. It made me wonder why he was even in there. I was full of assumptions. I was equating sanity with skill at billiards. He was just this normal automechanic-looking guy in the middle of an absolute horror show. I would shun the others - just ignore them - even though this defeated the very purpose of my being there, which was to make conversation with a wide variety of insane people. Two hours per week. Swing out sister - Icy cold as winter 专辑：Shapes and Patterns (1997) 来自英国的二人（曾经是三人）流行爵士组合，这首更像电子化的恩雅，东方味很重的downtempo。他们的音乐结合了微量爵士元素（微量，主要还是流行），这首没啥代表性，可以听听Now you're not here, Something out of this world。我看到'sister'以为是女子组和，结果是2男1女，之所以起这个名字是因为他们一致很讨厌'Swing out,sister'这部电影，除此之外再找不到共同点了！（绝望到一定程度的选择么？）
Robert Plant & Alison Krauss - Sister Rosette goes before us 专辑：Raising sand (2007) 昨天晚上听着这首歌睡着了=口= !!! Jady前两天很兴奋的说Led Zeppelin的主唱和Alison Krauss合作出了专辑！听了一下真是不错，其实只要是Alison Krauss的声音我觉得再平庸的歌都能被她神化。猜想着Rock meets bluegrass该是怎样的效果。。。目前没有“焕然一新”的感受，估计乐器方面偏向Robert（Krauss的小提琴被淹掉啦？）。就说这首前面是诡异的小调充满舞台剧效果，到了高潮切换到明亮的大调变得很乡村（Krauss风格），有点。。。说不上来。专辑介绍及下载看这里 (post by Jady)

Not a small achievement that I finally found out the cover artist for sleepy.ab's fantasia & palette album. To be able to type out 'ｲｲダキﾘｺ'(the string of kanas)-.-!!
He is more of a pattern/print designer than a traditional oil artist.Speaking of the medium, I mistook them for watercolor because they look fluid and transparent. His paintings are abstract, ghostly, gentle and peaceful, which means, mesmerising!

I woke up to the first big snow in the island and felt pleasantly blank. Although I've been reminded multiple times it would snow this weekend, I've somehow stowed the thought in the subconscious and seeing the flakes silently falling was fresh as new.
I only managed to take photos from the window. Setting foot outside in pajamas would be a real challenge.

Collaborations between artists and designers are very much a current trend. In addition to designers being inspired by paintings from long ago, they are also commissioning art works specifically for their garments.
One of these is Issey Miyake, who has recently commissioned guest artists to paint their masterpieces onto the front of his pleated dresses. One was by the Chinese artist Cai Guo Quiang. They say that art is in the eye of the beholder, a lady who wore this dress to a London restaurant had waiters rushing over with tissues because they thought she had spilled her dinner all down the front of her dress.
蔡健雅 - Drops of Jupiter 新加坡女歌手蔡健雅是华语歌坛里公认的创作型天才，中英文歌的演唱实力都很强（似乎没听过她唱马来文？）。我还记得新岛国庆期间经常放她的新作，比起平常的广播要养耳多了。Drops of Jupiter(Tell me)的原唱是Train，这首翻唱出自蔡2003年发行的唯一一张全英文专辑“Jupiter”，其中还收录了她为王菲谱曲的《等等》的英文版自唱（很有味道，推荐！）Jupiter这张专辑可以说是鲜为人知，沉了，彻底沉了，现在挖出来掸掸灰再听，赞！顺便说我喜欢她新专辑Goodbye & Hello中的《晨间新闻》和《当你离开的时候》，相较下主打曲《达尔文》倒显得平淡。
Club 8 - Jesus, Walk with me Club 8这个来自瑞典的二人组合在今年发行了专辑《The boy who couldn't stop dreaming》，距离上张专辑间隔了整整四年（这四年主唱去搞别的乐队了-.-）重组复出的新碟可以用一个词形容“甜腻”，比起他们的同名专辑有过之而无不及。主唱Karolina Komstedt悄悄话样的低声吟唱让人骨头发酥，配上大众都能接受的木吉他、键盘配乐的结果就是这张闲适的咖啡伴侣。喝多了小心反胃！曲风都差不多，好比同种布料印花制成的长裙、短裙、中长裙、中短裙、云云。Jesus, Walk with me是专辑开场，着实安静空旷。
1900s - Cold & Kind 1900s是最近挖到的稀有好货，还没搞清楚到底有几个成员，只知道男女一大把，各操不同乐器，有着绝好的和声和演奏底子。大杂烩乐队有个好处，人多力量大，作曲风格也是变化多样，不至于让一个人栓死在棵树上榨干脑力想有啥突破，到头来还是他与生俱来的老调调。Cold & Kind是首信心满满的成功作品，很适合当酒吧舞曲，城市风味浓重又结合了小提琴的优雅演奏。那两个女主唱的感觉就像Bird & the Bee，可惜大部分歌都是某男唱的，听他的声音我脑海中浮现出鱼肚白。 ---------------- Now playing: Sondre Lerche - Airport Taxi Reception via FoxyTunes
