back to school

School starts tomorrow! *claps*

I was madly rushing the carbohydrates lab report the whole evening only to be told it was due two weeks after. Anyway better early than late.

The biochemistry course we have for the winter term is related to proteomics, a topic which sounds very physics and mathematical. I like physics but to investigate protein folding, build 3D models and study their kinetics for your entire life sounds very deappetizing to me...

Some random stuff

medical science building, where most of my lessons are held

http://phm.utoronto.ca/~aapssc/img/conf2005/conhall.jpg
convocation hall, where graduation ceremony is held. (pray we graduate...)

university college, simply ancient. They say before UT existed, there was only this building standing. Rather pathetic.

These are photos scrambled from the web. I'll take some good pictures after I've grown out of my laziness.

at first i thought it was sch starts tmr *craps* and then i was thinking, i thought crap was uncountable. and then i realised it was claps. but you got to admit, my interpretation is likely to be a much more common response from pple like us...
anyways... good sch you're in...

HAHA crap is uncountable... never thought of that. I don't really like school in that sense since I'm also 'normal' so to speak... but meeting friends and getting life started always feel good ^^ and ah... I need to find a job...

I think something flew over my head, although that's not too hard to do.

At least the buildings on your campus look half-way decent, instead of cinder block bunkers like they did at Sonoma State University.

When are you going to post a pic of yourself Zhu? Remember I posted mine on my other blog...probably scared half the people that read it away.

That reminds me... I'm just pretending to be mysterious. No that's a joke.
I did post photos, not on this blog though.

MSN space

of course the one with higher frequency of appearance is me...

Heh, it's fun pretending to be mysterious though. I can never pull it off, I'm not interesting enough.

You are pretty though. It's good that you look happy in your pictures. At least you put me to shame. Um...I think that was a compliment.

I didn't know you were such an artist either. You and yofish (sorry I don't know what you normally go by yet!), sani, my best friend, my sister...everyone can draw better than me. :-(.

I know, I'm weird. Don't worry, I can work up my ego somehow.

Thanks Jeremy for the compliment ^^

yofish... I think the 'yo' part comes from her old email address and 'fish' is from her blog name. I usually call her tree or shu(in Chinese) which means the same thing. I'm far lazier and less talented than her and I really don't consider myself an artist of any sort.

Generally I only take photographs of my friends/scenery/buildings and rarely myself... because I just don't like it and don't know how to smile/pose. The 'mysterious part' is really a joke. Most of my friends know me through and through.

err... and I don't understand why you're troubled by your looks. At least the photos I've seen so far are good! Cheers!!

You're welcome Zhu, and thanks :-)

Not to clutter up your comments...I just have always had a self-image problem. I need to work on it.

But, I do really like the first two (watercolors?) in your art folder. Have you done any more manga?

I know the feeling. I always try to jump out of the way when someone tries to take a photo of me. Doesn't always work. Sometimes I have to be a good boy and let the person take a picture of me. I had to raid my parent's photo album for those. I don't think I've taken a photo of myself. At least not any flattering ones.

Those two are watercolours. I've always wanted to work on at least a short episode of manga but the most I've gone is 5 pages with complete inking and toning and that took me two whole days. It upsets my routine so I can't afford to do it during school days... All I do now is to practise sketching whenever I have the time to so that my skills won't rust ^^ and I left the whole set of manga tools back home anyway

There we have something in common. Most pictures are taken by my family or friends and unless they push me into the frame I'll stay out of it as far as I can. Maybe you can call that an image problem as well. I'm not sure of the reasons. Possibly because I'm not a confident person and I'm always shy. I've been working on that for a long time though. At least there're some improvements but still a lot to be done ^^

I always wanted to do manga, but for some reason I could never get the style. I was able to draw western-style comic books pretty well at one time...but I've found those tend not to be as expressive, with the exception of "graphic novels" which I think are in the same league as manga. Now I can't draw at all. The samurai pic I drew was the best I could come up with, lol. Keep on practicing!

I think you just have a more general shyness :-). An image problem is more of when you constantly worry about how you look and that you think you're unattractive, ugly, etc.... High school didn't help my self-esteem very much.

Well, as an outside view, you don't have anything to worry about when having your picture taken Zhu.

Wow this thread is getting incredibly long!

In my impression American high schools are always tough. I might be biased but it seems a lot is centred around who's cool and who's not. The schools I've been to are not so concerned about that or I'm not aware of it and I'm grateful for the friendly environment.

Thanks for the encouragement^^ I tend to dislike my own shyness although my parents say it's not a bad trait for a girl but still I feel the need to open up more. That's why to cultivate self-confidence is always there on new year's agenda lol.

You're welcome Zhu.

Yeah, it's a long thread, lol :-). Not too bad though, since we don't really exchange email anymore.
