the (initial) plan is to buy a puny cactus to soak up computer radiation but well, besides cacti there's non-edible aloe vera, jade flower and (what's that in bottom right corner? ) as if struck by a sudden whim for pots, i bought them all at 10rmb each. X my heart and pray they live.

This sumptous spash of colors (35,000kg of paint) across artificial stalactites hanging from a gothic dome is the work of Spanish artist Miquel Barcelo.

Yes, it's visually ASTOUNDING!

And the unspeakable fear of sitting under those variegated needles... ready to be pierced in Force Majeure events such as an earthquake (touch wood)

Lanky is the word I like on a guy. Dev Patel was chosen for the role Jamal for that reason.

Cactus being able to absorb radiation may be a hoax. Obviously, it can't deviate the radiation. It's succulent body may able to block some low frequency radiation, but that means you need to put a big chunk of cactus between you and the computer. However, the numerous needles on cactus may be able to absorb some of the dust gathered around the computer due to the static electric field. Overall, it's still a healthy method to put plants in the room, I think.

Jamal is the character in Slumdog Millionaire. You should definitely watch the movie. Such a great movie and the music is excellent too.
